Brittany’s Bio

Brit

Hello all!

I am Brittany Robertson and I am a fellow dancer! I grew up in rural Alberta training in RAD ballet, ADAPT tap, jazz, and lyrical, and contemporary work. From 1999-2003 I danced with the Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede. In 2007 I travelled to New York City to take classes at Broadway Dance Center and in the fall of 2007-2008 I danced on contract in Manzanillo, Mexico as a member of the Sport and Entertainment staff. Since then I have been dancing here and there throughout the city, such as at the University of Calgary, and teaching for multiple studios around Calgary. For the last 6 years I have been with a non-profit dance company in Calgary Alberta – En Corps Dance Collective. I am currently a board member, choreographer and dancer with this amazing group.

Outside of dance I received my BSc in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. I have worked personal training and teaching group exercises classes for various populations, such as dancers (and other athletes), weight loss programs, and over health and conditioning, as well as teaching ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary classes to all ages. I recently received my Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Alberta and am currently working in both a private practice and hospital settings.

Why am I writing these posts? Well I feel that having a good understanding of your body and what it needs will lead you to become better dancers. I understand the struggles with eating well and taking good care of your body, therefore I want to pass on some of the things I have learned along the way to make it easier for all of you. I hope you find these posts interesting and informative.

Cheers,

Brittany Robertson.
